Update 27/03/2026 – 07:00 pm (IST): Here’s what the latest official update says:
We have mitigated the main issue and the error rate for Opus 4.6 is hovering around 0.4% which is still high, but much better than the performance during the previous hours. We are waiting for a more permanent fix to land in the near future.
Update 27/03/2026 – 05:43 pm (IST): Anthropic seems to be struggling to manage its services. The latest update of the status page suggests they’ve fixed issues with Sonnet 4.6, but they’re still working on a fix for Opus 4.6.

Even so, many users have taken to X in frustration to complain about the frequent outages.

Update 27/03/2026 – 02:28 pm (IST): If you are running into issues when using Opus 4.6, you’re not alone. Claude’s official status page has been updated with a confirmation that the team is aware of elevated errors with the model. The issue is under investigation.

Update 25/03/2026 – 10:30 pm (IST): The latest update on the official status page says the following:
We are continuing to investigate connection errors which occur during Claude Cowork sessions. This issue can be resolved by restarting the Claude Desktop application.
Update 25/03/2026 – 08:30 pm (IST): Anthropic has now identified the Claude issue and says a fix is being rolled out, but the service is still marked as a partial outage on the official status page. At the same time, Cowork is facing elevated connection reset errors, and that issue is still being investigated.

Update 25/03/2026 – 07:20 pm (IST): Just a few weeks after suffering a series of outages, it appears Claude is down again. I am seeing real-time reports on X regarding the same.

A quick look at the status page reveals the company is aware and investigating the problem:

Update 03/03/2026 – 09:50 pm (IST): Looks like Claude is experiencing a series of outages since yesterday. Currently, the status page says: “Elevated errors on Claude Sonnet 4.6”

Update 03/03/2026 – 09:48 pm (IST): The platform is once again experiencing elevated errors. Anthropic says they’re investigating the issue on its status page.

Update 02/03/2026 – 10:35 pm (IST): Here’s the current status, as indicated by the official status-tracking page:

Update 02/03/2026 – 05:27 pm (IST): A month later, Claude is down once again. The website now shows a message that reads “Claude will return soon. Claude is currently experiencing a temporary service disruption.”

The status page notes that the company is investigating “elevated errors.” Meanwhile, the service is still functional on Claude Code, as noted by a user on X.

There’s no ETA for a fix.
Update 04/02/2026 – 04:29 pm (IST): Claude users are running into errors when trying to use the AI tool. Posts flooding X show users are seeing a ‘529’ error code.

The official status page indicates that the company is already aware of the elevated errors and even tried implementing a fix, but it failed.

Update 22/01/2026 – 09:50 pm (IST): Barely a week after suffering a major outage, Claude seems to be facing hiccups again at the moment. We are seeing social media getting flooded with reports of the service being down.

Even Downdetector is showing a sharp spike in reports.

Anthropic seems to have just acknowledged the outage, saying:
We are currently investigating an issue affecting Claude Code authentication. Users may encounter errors when attempting to sign in or authenticate their Claude Code sessions

We’re keeping a tab on the situation, and will update the article as and when we get more information on the matter.
Update 14/01/2026 – 03:54 pm (IST): Anthropic has officially acknowledged that Claude is having a rough time today, specifically citing “elevated error rates” across its Opus 4.5 and Sonnet 4.5 models. The team says they have identified the problem and are currently implementing a fix, though they are still monitoring the situation to make sure everything actually holds up.
Original article published on January 14, 2026, follows:
It is never a good sign when your main AI sidekick starts giving you the cold shoulder. Right now, Claude is acting up and throwing errors, leaving a massive chunk of its user base stuck without their favorite AI tool.
Social media is already a mess of complaints from folks who are hitting a brick wall and cannot get anything finished.

I tried checking the service for myself and immediately ran into a red banner. It simply says, “This isn’t working right now. You can try again later,” which pretty much sums up the current state of things.

Downdetector is showing a big spike in reports right now, confirming that this is not just a few isolated cases. Over 800 people have flagged that the service is broken in just the last few minutes.

If you were planning on having a productive afternoon with Claude, you might want to find a plan B. The service is definitely having a rough time, and there is no telling how long the errors will keep popping up.
That said, similar server issues usually tend to get resolved sooner rather than later. So I’d say just make yourself a cup of coffee and wait it out.
